There isn't one right answer to the question, 'Who should I buy Johns Manville insulation from?' I know that's not the satisfying, pithy answer you were hoping for. But after 12 years on the supply side, and more than 200 rush orders, I can tell you this much: the supplier that works for a new-build spray foam project is often the wrong supplier for a 48-hour pipe insulation emergency.
The problem isn't the product. Johns Manville makes good, consistent building materials. The problem is that different situations need different support. If you're specifying closed-cell or open-cell polyurethane foam, you're also signing up for a chemical process. The foam's performance depends on substrate preparation, ambient temperature, and the crew's technique.
